This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is:

Wickedly Charming by Kristine Grayson

Sourcebooks Inc.
Coming April 2011

From Sourcebooks

Cinderella’s Prince Charming is divorced and at a dead-end in his career, so he opens a bookstore and travels the land ordering books and discovering new authors. Still handsome and still charming, he has given up on women, royalty, and anything that smacks of a future.
Mellie is sick and tired of being called the Evil Stepmother. She did her best by her stepdaughter Snow White, but the girl resented her to no end and made all kinds of false accusations.
Neither of them believes in happily ever after anymore, but both of them believe in happily for the moment…

Okay, so how unbelievably unique does that sound? Being the avid lover of disney movies that I am, I was dieing to get my hands on this and am anxious now that it is in my hands for review, and not ready to be read. It has to sit there in my TBR pile while I get these other reviews done first, blah! And you have to love that cover :)

What are you waiting on this wednesday?

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
The Mortal instruments Series – Book 4
Simon and Schuster
April 5, 2011

From Goodreads:

“City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace.

As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.”

Ok, so I am not a huge reader of YA, in fact I read very little. I am working on changing that though, better late than never, right? So anyway, the Mortal Instruments series! These books by Cassandra Clare are some I have, in fact, read. The first three were great. Had me gripped from the get go—hook, line, and sinker. And I had know idea a fourth was on it’s way, soon to be followed by a fifth in 2012. So I am looking forward to it. I have to say, Cassandra Clare as a way with bringing the romance to her book, without the hot and steamy (it is YA after all) but, it is entertaining enough. I recommend reading the first three, because you simply shouldn’t miss out, and catch up in time to celebrate this release in April :)

This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is:

Darcy and Fitzwilliam: A tale of a gentleman and an officer by Karen Wasylowski
Sourcebooks Inc.
Coming February, 2010

From Goodreads:

A gentleman cannot survive without his best friend…

Fitzwilliam Darcy and colonel Fitzwilliam couldn’t be more different. Darcy is quiet and reserved, and carries the weight of his responsibilities on his shoulders. His affable and vivacious cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam is a confirmed bachelor whose military feats have made him a hero, and whose devil-may-care personality hides the torments within. Cousins, best friends, and sparring partners, Darcy and Fitzwilliam have always been there for each other.

Then life gets complicated, with unrequited love and unresolved deeds from the past raising their ugly heads, and family difficulties threatening even the most steadfast friendship. Will these two strong personalities find a way to align, or will the vicissitudes of life and love tear them in different directions and destroy the family they have always worked together to protect?

OK, so this book really has me interested, mainly because I can’t tell what it is about. I know it is about Darcy and Fitzwilliam, but what about them? I mean honestly the cover mad me think there might be a romantic interest between the two. The way they are running to each other, or rather the way Darcy is running to Fitzwilliam, well it just seems like it would be considered a romantic cover, had one been a woman. So you see why I am confused? I also suspect it is truly just a bromance about the two helping one another. Maybe Fitzwilliam just helps Darcy get Elizabeth and that’s where the romance will be involved. I don’t know but I am intrigued to say the least. I all ready have the book, thanks to an ARC from Sourcebooks, but I wont read it until closer to publication date, so look for a review in Feb.

Be sure to check out the current give aways for Wolf Fever by Terry Spear and Pemberley Ranch by Jack Caldwell.

Moon Cursed by Lori Handeland

A Night Creature Novel
Macmillan/St. Martins Press
Coming March 1, 2011

From St. Martins:
Kristin Daniels is passionate in her pursuit of the truth. As the host of the television showHoax Hunters, she’s traveled to the ends of the earth to explore—and expose—life’s most enduring myths. Her latest undertaking is no exception: Kris is bound for Scotland, where she intends to get to the bottom of the Loch Ness Monster legend once and for all.

Instead, Kris encounters something far more mysterious… For in the ruins of the lake’s Urquhart Castle lies a heavenly creature—a sleek, muscled man with a seductive brogue named Liam Grant. One look into his eyes and Kris is already in danger of falling in too deep. Is Liam for real? Or has the spell of the moon touched them both?

This book just sounds unique and intriguing to me. Automatically I was tuned in for clues on the handsome guy she finds. Who is he? Is he the Loch Ness Monster? I have questions that need answering and I will only be satisfied when I have the book :)

This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is:

Ascension by Caris Roan
Macmillan/St. Martins Press
Coming December 28, 2010

From St. Martins:
Alison Wells is no ordinary woman. Born with supernatural powers, she can never make love to a man without putting him in grave danger. But when her special vision reveals a glorious muscled man soaring overhead on mighty wings, she feels an overwhelming attraction she cannot resist—even as he tells her: “I have come for you. Your blood belongs to me.”

Kerrick is a vampire and a warrior who has fought his hunger for a woman’s love for the past two hundred years. As a Guardian of Ascension, he is sworn to protect Alison from the death vamp armies who crave her blood and her power. But Kerrick has cravings of his own—a forbidden longing to open his heart and veins to Alison. To share his blood…satisfy his thirst…and seal their fates forever.

So, what do y’all think of this one? It sounded kind of fascinating to me. Seeing the wings of the hunk on the cover made me think it was about angels…but reading the synopsis talks about vampires. So I am intrigued to say the least and hanging out for it. It is coming out soon thankfully, so I don’t have too long to wait.

Handsome, haughty Will Darcy, a Confederate officer back from the war, owns half the land around Rosings, and his even haughtier cousin, Cate Burroughs, owns the other half.

In a town as small as Rosings, Beth and Will inevitably cross paths. But as Will becomes enchanted with the fiery Yankee, Beth won’t allow herself to warm to the man who represents the one thing she hates most: the army that killed her only brother.

But when carpetbagger George Whitehead arrives in Rosings, all that Beth thought to be true is turned on its head, and the only man who can save her home is the one she swore she’d never trust…

Now I actually all ready have the ARC of this book (thank you Sourcebooks), but I can’t wait to dig into it. Lover Unleashed

Black Dagger Brotherhood Series
JR Ward

NAL; (March 29, 2011)

From GoodReads:

Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself-only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can-but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

Ok, so I know that many, many people have all ready placed this novel on their WOW list, but I just can’t help it. I am such a huge fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I mean, anyone who has read the series knows what I am talking about. The Brothers are just to die for and the way JR Ward writes, well what else is there to say. Seriously I am preordering this, you should too. And for those of you familiar with the brothers…I am Team Zsadist all the way, well sometimes. It depends on how I wake up in the morning. Sometimes I am Team Rhage, other days I feel a little Team Butch…well you get my point.

Ok, yes I am one of those people that love old films and shows. Black and white films would be part of my ideal perfect day. So, along with Bonanza, Bewitched, I love Lucy and Little House on the Prairie…I love, love, love “I dream of Genie.”  Do, do, do-do-do-do-do, do, do…I can hear the tune in my head right now. Yep I love it. Naturally the title of this book drew my interest. Lucky me, I get to review this as an ARC, but I still can’t wait to read it.

I Dream of Genies
Judi Fennell
Sourcebooks Casablanca; (January 1, 2011)

From Amazon:

Having a 2,000 year old magic genie fall right into your lap should be a good thing. At least, that’s what down-on-his luck Matt Ewing thought. But Eden is no subservient fairy tale genie. Beautiful and independent, Eden isn’t so keen on having to answer to yet another master. Then, after centuries of being alone, and against her better judgment, Eden suddenly finds herself in danger of falling for Matt. When she flips his already unstable world upside down, Matt is at his wits’ end-if only he didn’t find his inept genie so darn irresistible!
